The late Cannon O’Leary celebrating the March 1990 station mass

In addition to providing accommodation for teaching the children of the area, the school was also used for the following services:

  • Polling station for elections: The school served the local population as a polling station for all elections held prior to its closure in 1975.
  • Church stations: The local church stations were held in the school twice yearly. This practice continued after closure, to the end of the twentieth century.
  • Community hall: Variety concerts and céilí were held in the school from time to time. These were usually organised on behalf of the Church for fundraising purposes.
