In addition to providing accommodation for teaching the children of the area, the school was also used for the following services:
- Polling station for elections: The school served the local population as a polling station for all elections held prior to its closure in 1975.
- Church stations: The local church stations were held in the school twice yearly. This practice continued after closure, to the end of the twentieth century.
- Community hall: Variety concerts and céilí were held in the school from time to time. These were usually organised on behalf of the Church for fundraising purposes.
